How it works

  • Register on our site for our free GPS mapping and logging service (terms and conditions apply).
  • You select a travel logger from our range of low cost personal GPS logger units, all of which keep a continuous record of your position when you are moving. There is a choice of rechargeable, battery, vehicle powered or combinations of these options.
  • Place the unit on the dashboard of your vehicle using the sticky gel pad to hold it in place. There is no drilling or adhesives used. The gel pad leaves no residue and secures the small, lightweight logger amazingly well.
  • Drive as normal and the GPS logger automatically records positions at time/distance intervals, switching off when inactive.
  • Periodically (usually each week or month), take the GPS logger from the car, connect it to your computer and the logger will load your position data onto our secure web site.
  • Our powerful analysis servers then produce a list of journeys you have made including stops and mileage. You can mark places on the map such as your home, place of work, other work related sites and our clever rules engine then marks which journeys were private and business related. You can also change this directly for individual journeys.
  • Our report generator then allows you to produce expense claims, invoice information from time on customer sites and many more useful reports. You can also view your journeys on a map.
  • At the end of the tax year, JourneyLog will produce your P87 form required by HM Revenue & Customs, including a summary of business and private mileage that will allow you to make a full tax reclaim.
  • ...
  • The details of your journeys are for your eyes only if you have purchased the logger for individual use. If your company have provided you with a logger, they will only see details of business journeys and only when you have submitted them for expense claims purposes. Private journeys can only be seen by you.
  • The GPS loggers are passive recording devices and not linked by GSM or radio in a way that would allow live tracking. The system can't be used to find out your location in real time.
